The Orwell bar reopened its doors on 1 May 2008, fully re-decorated with plenty of unusual character. This time The Orwell is a brand new adventure, but we’ve been called The Orwell before, changing our name first to George Orwell and then to Lighthouse before coming back to The Orwell. We’re keeping The Orwell now!

We hope you love it here.

Our large bar offers a variety of cocktails, wines, premium spirits, imported lagers, ciders and ales. We also have a Pool Table now!

The Orwell is also a music venue. We offer an in-house PA system and DJ equipment (Vinyl and CDs), and can comfortably accommodate 100 people. Our club nights and gigs are a must and not to be missed!
